Why do I write about reversing, rather than preventing or treating heart disease? This site is for seniors, older adults, baby boomers…
And so… You may be one of the millions of Americans who already have the condition, or a precursor of it.
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute concludes in its recent Cardiovascular Health Study that almost all men over 65 years of age and women over seventy are already afflicted with some form of heart disease.

Angioplasty (stents), bypass surgery, and open heart surgery…
Treatment means masking the symptoms, but not curing anything…
Surgeons and hospitals are getting richer.
You are getting sicker.
This page on Reversing Heart Disease is dedicated to my late father, Franz Hauser, who died from coronary artery disease years ago.
Bypass surgery proved to be no savior, as he succumbed to a heart attack.
He never knew that his illness could not only have been prevented, but once suffering from it, it could have been halted and even reversed. But his doctors were either ignorant - or too prescription-and-procedure-happy. They called it treatment. I call it greed.
I will not write about treatment of heart disease here. It just doesn’t work.
Treatment doesn’t heal the patient.
There is a better way. ONE THAT WORKS. And I’m here to tell you about it...
Open heart surgery doesn’t heal your heart… diet does.
Angioplasty and stents don’t keep your arteries open… diet does.
Pills and potions don’t prevent heart attack or stroke… diet does.
Even the old excuse - genetics - are not the most important factor in your health… diet is.
Most Americans live on the so-called Standard American Diet, SAD for short. You know… the traditional, heavily meat-based and highly processed Western diet - laden with sugar, salt, and saturated fats.
Over time, this diet with its dietary fats and cholesterol, its added sugars, salts, and other toxic substances, leads to chronic inflammation and build-up of plaque in the arteries, veins and capillaries.
Let me mention here that recent findings are pointing fingers at sugar as a primary culprit in causing plaque formation and thickening of the artery walls, which of course leads to cardiovascular disease as well as multiple other chronic conditions.
This narrowing and clotting of the blood vessels can result in blockage of the bloodstream that deprives the heart muscle of oxygen, causing a heart attack or even sudden death.
Heart disease is a diet-related disease.
A heart-healthy whole foods, plant-based diet has been proven beyond any doubt to prevent, halt, even reverse heart disease.
Caldwell B. Esselstyn, M.D., one of the world’s foremost authorities on heart disease, says - “Cardiovascular disease is a toothless paper tiger that need never exist. And if it does exist, it need never progress. It is a food-borne illness. Change your food, and you change your life.”
Plant-based foods don’t promote build-up of plaque. They contain thousands of nutrients that actually improve the health of the blood vessels -- thereby reversing heart disease.
Without the constant inundation of the arteries by cholesterol and the other toxins that come with every meal of meats, dairy, poultry and fish, your body finally can begin the healing process.
A varied plant-based diet, such as Vegan Nutrition, with its incredible supply of nutrients can reverse the ravages of heart disease.
Study after study, investigation after investigation, have shown this to be true.

A word on exercise…
Whereas a plant-strong diet is of number one importance with regard to cardiovascular health, regular physical activity - yes, exercise - has also been proven to greatly reduce the risk of heart disease.
Older adults are well advised to combine diet and exercise for seniors to achieve optimal health.
